The ourtdoors is fun, exciting, relaxing and dangerous! I'm constantly reminded of how careful we need to be when camping, RVing and just enjoying the great outdoors. I don't want to rain on anyone parade, but I do want to keep you on your toes when you go for a enjoyable time in the wilds.
Here are some brief reports of recent outdoor accidents that might have been avoided:
Swollen river kills counselor, teenager!
--Schroeder, Minn
A 17-year-old girl was killed and another seriously injured when the all-terrain vehicle they were riding fell 30 feet from a steep road.
--Mount Pleasant, Utah
Canyon hike turns tragic when teen dies after fall from cliff.
--Big Cottonwood Canyon, Utah
A 47-year-old man was killed by lightning while hiking in a park.
--Massachusetts

--Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park
Here are a few safety tips:
1. Pack a first aid kit.
2. Plan to arrive early at your campsite and check it for potential dangers.
3. Never leave a propane stove unattended while it's burning.
4. Watch out for bugs and stinging insects. (See our Yellow Fly Blog)
5. Practice good hygiene when handling food.
Enjoy the great outdoors, but folks, remember you just can't be too careful out there!
